Oh the gloomy weather after moving from
Barcelona to Madrid. The complicated and empty looks of the city contrasted
with Barcelona and was quite a shame. I thought that the best part of the trip
to Spain would be Madrid however I was disappointed when I arrived at Sol
Square. Sol Square was filled with riots, tourists, pickpockets, and hippies.
It was chaos on earth.
However, there was a place that blew all my disappointments away. It was
the most famous tourist spot in Madrid, The Palacio Real.
The Madrid palace
built between the 18th and 19th century was filled with
banquet halls and rooms with luxurious and fancy decorations. It definitely
showed the power and dignity of Spain’s history as the strongest kingdom in the
world. Within all its shining glory, there was dignity and formality that I
couldn't take my eyes off. It was simply beautiful. I hope you never miss this
place if you go to Madrid. I definitely recommend it!
How to find Madrid Palace:
When you arrive at Opera metro station (Red
line, L2 or Green Line L5), you can see the palace from far away. It takes
about five minutes from the metro to the entrance of the palace. There is a
beautiful garden and park near the palace so it is a great walk.
>> It was about 10 minutes by foot from the hotel Rekay stayed at,
which was DEAR HOTEL (Spain Square station).
Palace Opening hours:
October~March>> Monday~Sunday 10:00~18:00 (Until 16:00 on Sundays)
April~September>> Monday~Sunday 10:00~2:00 (Until 16:00 on Sundays)
Palace Ticket prices:
Children under the age of 5 can enter for free.
Ordinary tour>> 11 Euros
Guided tour>> 15 Euros
Madrid Palace is divided into ordinary and guided tours. However, there are
explanations everywhere in the palace so it was not that inconvenient. It was
rather great that I could look around here and there freely. Of course, I would
have been able to understand more with detailed explanations however seeing and
feeling the palace was enough for me.
Except in the blazing summer months, Madrid is known to have cloudy
weather. I tried a casual travel look with a light and warm knit cardigan for
the chilly weather. When you’re travelling, convenient and active looks are
key. However, if you want great photos and enjoy the spot, you shouldn't miss
out on style.
Rekay wore basic white t-shirt and black skinny jeans and added a neutral
gray knit cardigan as well as colorful top shop stripe scarf as my point
accessory upon the basic casual look. It is not only fancy with its maxi length
but it did its role perfectly to make the overall look a bit more bright and
cute in photos.
When you’re travelling, it is great to lightly match accessories with color
and opint upon basic looks to easily make a photogenic look. Scarfs or mufflers
with fancy patterns (HERE & HERE), color mini bag, or vivid colored sneakers or socks are
great eye catching items to try out although they are small.
Lastly, Gucci’s Dionysus bag. I usually wore it in a casual feeling but it
also goes pretty well with casual looks. One of the bags that you must beware
of in trips is a backpack. Especially in Europe where pickpockets are
dangerous, a basic cross-bag is better than backpacks or large shoulder big
bags. Wearing it inside your outer is also a great tip.
